abc recruitment services was first conceived in 2001 and then started trading in April 2002 under Clive Rumbold’s directorship. The first branch was opened in South West Scotland.
Clive’s background before starting abc recruitment services was from an operational management background which included opening 3 new businesses (including from green field site fledgling start ups through to established profitable businesses). He has had staff responsibility for up to 500 employees.
A passion for helping people, seeing a job through until it is done to a very high standard and a desire to be the best (that he can be) inspired him to open an original recruitment and HR business concept which he felt was missing after researching the market.
The company initially started offering temporary and permanent recruitment services, however, the vision was to provide a sophisticated range of supporting recruitment and HR services that would complement the initial offerings whilst being accessible, flexible and easy to use.
abc works with all sizes of employers and prides itself on giving a very personal service to people looking for work as well as its’ business customers. There is a real interest to make sure the companies abc work with prosper from the staff/service provided as well as a desire to make sure the candidate employed is happy for the long term.

The company now stands with a large office facility and a team of well trained consultants and supporting staff. Training is very important aspect to abc and its’ team. There is a constant drive to keep up to date and in front of the ever changing legislation and skills needed to provide the best service. In 2006 abc was a finalist for Scottish Enterprise D & G “Excellence in Skills and Learning”. abc has been Investor In People accredited since a few months after it opened – no change in practice or systems was needed to acquire or keep this standard!
